Culture Shock & Follow Up

Updated: Aug 24, 2018

8.5.2018 -

I've been home for a few months now, and made my way through the reflective experience of collaborating this online journal. Through the process, I have relieved experiences that happened not so long ago, and crafted my personal thoughts into a semi-coherent narrative that I hope you enjoy.

During my time abroad, I tried to squeeze the most out of every day. From the time my plane touched down to to when I departed, this is what I was able to accomplish (and somewhat quantify) in the 95 days I was abroad:

  • explore thirteen museums

  • shop through four markets

  • attend five musicals, five plays, and one concert

  • drinK *countless* cups of tea

  • walk through five palaces/castles

  • explore three countries in the UK, and two outside it

  • drink at *how many* new pubs??

  • visit seven English cities/villages-

  • collect six pins, and one charm (for my notebook)

  • admire (at least) five cathedrals or churches from within

  • stroll through five parks/gardens

  • feed one parakeet from my hand

  • get lost traveling/exploring only a handful of times

  • journal ninety-one pages

This experience, both the exploring itself and revisiting my memories, has been amazing, and I hope you've enjoyed exploring it with me.

With love,

-Ruth xoxo
