Cultural Reflection

Casual British-ness

"I thought I’d been ready to be very blatantly ‘other,’ my nationality announced by my soft t’s and dropping of vowels every time I opened my mouth. What I hadn’t anticipated was the juggling from the very start of what I thought were normal social conventions."

Windsor Castle & AR

"The reason for my fascination with the tourism of Windsor Castle is that the presentation of the building to ‘commoners’ has long, almost always, been the other of its primary uses. The physical space has been used as a medium to convey to power and dignity of the royal family for centuries...From my time here in England and UK thus far, I can sense the deep appreciation the county has with tradition, stability, and consistency."

British Culture In the Workplace

"People say that America and Britain are two countries divided by the same language, and so far I have found it very true."

Beware the Phantom of...Palais Garnier

"When I first entered the building, I was not seeing the amazing entrance hall, or sweeping staircases. Rather, I was seeing the famous Masquerade scene of Webber’s musical and subsequent dramatic confrontation of protagonists."
